Hi, I am Puneeth Bhurat, aged 31 years, staying in Bengaluru, India. I completed my Bachelor (BE) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Vishveshwaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi in the year 2013. I received my MSc. (By Research) degree in Electrical Engineering from CPRI Research Center, VTU in 2018.
After completing BE, I Worked as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at the High Voltage Division of Center Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bengaluru. CPRI a premier centre for applied research in electrical power engineering assisting the electrical industry in product development and quality assurance. During my tenure as JRF (2014-2017), my work involved insulation coordination studies on transmission line and analyzing the application of Line surge arresters on the transmission lines. I was also involved in identifying the suitable Neutral Grounding Reactor for the 765kV Transmission line. Both these studies were performed extensively on Electro Magnetic Transient Program (EMTP) Software. I was also involved in analyzing Electric field, Magnetic field distribution and corona effects analysis of transmission lines. During the same time, I had enrolled on a High Voltage Engineering Course at the CCE, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
Upon successful completion of my tenure as JRF, I Joined the Power Systems Division of CPRI as Project Associate in the year 2018. Here, I was involved in studies to determine the surge arrester ratings for a large cable-connected distribution network of a leading defence electronics manufacturing PSU. The failure causes of surge arresters were identified and corrective measures were reported.
At present, I am with Vijaya Sales Corporation, which is a leading Electrical Distribution Equipment Manufacturer and Supplier in the Indian state of Karnataka. They are suppliers of distribution-side electrical equipment to government utilities and private contractors.
My extensive research work is published in various national and international conferences and journals. I have 9 technical papers under my name, which include 7 conference papers 1 journal paper and 1 poster presentation. I have been an active member of IEEE Bangalore section and IEEE Power and Energy Society for the past 10 years. I have also involved and volunteered in various technical conferences organized by CPRI and IEEE. I was Vice-chair of IEEE YP Bangalore section in the year 2016. I volunteered for IEEE PES APPEEC2017, IEEE PowerCon 2020 and various CPRI Conferences and workshops. I have also been invited as speaker by various institutions.
