Puneeth Bhurat has been working in the field of surge arresters and transient studies of electrical systems from the past four years. He has worked as a project associate in Power Systems Division of Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bangalore, India. Prior to this, he was research scholar at High Voltage Division of CPRI for three years. He has completed his MSc (By research) from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. At CPRI he has extensively worked on the application of line surge arresters in EHV and UHV systems. He has performed several systems studies for transient analysis and insulation coordination. His area of research interests includes surge arresters, grounding studies, condition monitoring, life assessment of arresters and power system transient studies.
